"Pattern" Games PatternPalooza is a challenging game that helps students hone their pattern-sensing skills. Each game begins with ONE solution pattern in a blue box and up to 8 Single Digits "cards" below.
Single Digits cards contain four numbers that can make the target number 24. Add, subtract, multiply and divide using all four numbers in the wheel on the card, but use each number only once. Solve each wheel using the pattern given. The "pattern" is the last step in the solution (such as 2 x 12). Players click on a card(s) that can be solved using the pattern in the blue box. Players have 3 minutes to score as many points as possible. Each correct card selected adds 10 points to player's scores for the current game. Incorrect cards deduct 20 points from the score. (Players can select a new pattern if they are stuck, by clicking the "New Pattern " button, but 20 points will be deducted from the total points score.) When 3 minutes are up, that game is over, and the player's total score will be converted into "stickers" on a schedule. There are six levels of play with 12 games each. Each level offers increasing challenge. After all rounds have been completed, PatternPalooza can also be played in PRACTICE mode, where players can select the level of difficulty. (No stickers are earned in Practice Mode).
Pattern Panic also strengthens students' pattern-sensing skills. Players are shown one Single Digits card and must select one of several "patterns" shown that can be used to make 24 and solve the card. Players have 3 minutes to complete score as many points as possible. Each correct card selected adds 10 points to player's score, incorrect cards deduct 20 points from the score. (Players can select a new pattern if they are stuck, by clicking the "Next Card "button, but 20 points will be deducted from the total points score.) When 3 minutes are up, that game is over, and the player's total score will be converted into "stickers" according to a schedule. There are six levels of play with 12 games each. Each level offers increasing challenge. After all rounds have been completed, Pattern Panic can also be played in PRACTICE mode, where players can select the level of difficulty. (No stickers are earned in Practice Mode). |
